Privacy Policy

Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Assessium handles data in the current product: author accounts, material you upload for AI generation, the prompts you write, assessment editing and publishing, public quiz attempts, grading, reporting, exports, email verification and password reset, beta access, and operational logging.
Assessium is currently in a closed, invite-only beta. Please do not upload confidential, sensitive, or personal information while we are in beta.
Data you provide
- Account details such as name, email address, password authentication records, email verification status, account role, and session records — or, if you use social sign-in, the basic profile and email your Google or Microsoft account shares.
- Material you upload for generation, such as PDF, Word, PowerPoint, text, and Markdown files, and the prompts, instructions, and settings you provide. The text extracted from these is sent to our AI provider to draft an assessment (see “AI generation and DeepSeek”).
- Assessment content such as titles, descriptions, course codes, course titles, lecturer names, semesters, assessment types, instructions, question prompts, options, accepted answers, explanations, points, and required settings.
- Imported source content (Markdown, JSON, or raw text) and any feedback you send us.
AI generation and DeepSeek
To generate an assessment, Assessium sends the text extracted from your uploads, along with any prompt you provide, to DeepSeek, a third-party AI provider, which processes it and returns draft questions. This processing may take place on infrastructure outside your country.
We send only what is needed to produce your draft. Because this material leaves Assessium and is handled by DeepSeek under its own terms, please do not upload confidential, sensitive, or personal data into generation. Uploaded files are used to create your draft and are not stored as part of your account; the generated assessment is saved so you can edit and publish it.
Participant and attempt data
When a participant opens a published quiz link, Assessium may collect their name, participant ID if enabled or required by the author, answers, normalized answer text, attempt start and submission times, score, total points, correctness, awarded points, and a snapshot of the version attempted.
Result pages show participants the result state configured by the author (submission-only, score, or score plus feedback). Authors can view their own reports and export attempt data.
Students and minors
Assessium is intended for educators, trainers, and other adults who create assessments. If you collect data from students — including minors — through quiz attempts, you act as the controller of that data and are responsible for the legal basis, notices, and consents required where you operate. Do not enter student personal data into generation.
How Assessium uses data
- To create and secure accounts, verify email addresses, manage sessions, send password-reset emails, and grant beta access via invite codes.
- To generate draft assessments from your uploaded material and prompts.
- To save, validate, edit, publish, preview, and lock assessment content when attempts begin.
- To create public quiz links, enforce time limits, accept submissions, grade supported question types, and show configured result pages.
- To generate author-facing reports and exports (PDF, Word, Markdown, CSV, QR images, PNG share posters).
- To protect reliability through rate and usage limits, server logs, and error reports.
Access and sharing
You can access the assessments, settings, exports, and reports associated with your own account. Public quiz links can be accessed by anyone who receives the link, QR code, or share poster.
Assessium may disclose data if required to comply with law, protect the service, investigate abuse, or enforce the Terms of Service.
Security
Assessium uses account authentication, email verification, session management, ownership checks, server-side validation, and rate limiting to protect the service. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so avoid uploading data you are not permitted to process and protect exported files after downloading them.
Retention and deletion
Assessium keeps account, assessment, question, attempt, answer, export, settings, session, and verification records for as long as needed to provide the product, preserve reports, troubleshoot, meet legitimate operational needs, or comply with applicable obligations. Uploaded files are not retained after a draft is generated.
You may request correction or deletion of your account, assessment, or attempt records by emailing hello@assessium.app. Some records may need to be retained where required for security, legal, backup, or audit reasons.
Your choices
You can edit or delete your assessments in the workspace, and request account correction, export, or deletion at hello@assessium.app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data; contact us and we will help where we can.
Updates
This policy may be updated as Assessium's product scope, providers, or data practices change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
